Making New Friends Isn’t Easy—But It’s Worth It
Christian Friendship | Spirit-Led Connections | Overcoming Insecurity
Hey friend,
Let’s be honest—making new friends as an adult isn’t exactly easy. Between busy schedules, past friendship wounds, and that sneaky fear of rejection, it's easy to retreat and stay guarded. But you weren’t created to go it alone. If you’ve ever longed for Christian friendship but felt unsure where to start, you’re not alone.
On this week’s episode of Spirit-Filled Girl Talk, Sarah and I are diving into the truth that you were made for Spirit-led friendship—even if your past says otherwise. Episode 9, “Making New Friends Isn’t Easy—But It’s Worth It,” is a tender, truth-filled invitation to let God redefine how we pursue connection.
Friend, you are not too much, and you’re certainly not alone. But to step into the friendships God has for you, you may need to release the fear and take a small step of faith. This week’s episode gently explores what that looks like—and why it matters so deeply to the heart of God.
Why Christian Friendship Matters
From the beginning, God designed us for community. He placed us in families, in churches, and in spiritual sisterhood. But many of us carry wounds from friendships that didn’t last—or the ache of relationships we wish had gone deeper.
That’s why this conversation is so important. Because instead of staying stuck in fear, Jesus invites us to walk into freedom—not only in our relationship with Him, but in the friendships He’s hand-picked for us too—especially through the gift of Christian friendship..
In this episode, we unpack:
-
How to overcome insecurity and rejection using Moses' story
-
What intentional friendship looks like in busy seasons
-
How to ask God for divinely appointed friendships
-
Why generational friendship is a beautiful gift (hello, Ruth & Naomi!)
A Journal Prompt to Reflect On
“What fears or insecurities have held me back from pursuing new friendships—and what truth does God speak over those fears?”
→ Write down what’s been keeping you stuck—and then counter it with Scripture truth like Psalm 139:14 or Ephesians 2:10.This is your opportunity to invite healing into your desire for Christian friendship by anchoring your identity in Christ.
One Small Step Toward Christian Friendship
Sometimes we overthink friendship and forget the power of a simple “hello.” This week, ask the Holy Spirit to show you one woman you can reach out to. Whether it’s sending a message, inviting her for coffee, or just striking up a conversation—you never know what God might do with your yes. That small yes could be the beginning of a God-ordained Christian friendship.
