Take the Time

I receive a text from a friend saying she’s thinking of me, praying for me & hopes all is going well.  I get a beautiful card in the mail encouraging me & appreciating my friendship.  I listen to a message on Voxer from a friend who’s rejoicing in our answered prayers & offering a special prayer up for me.

Each of these scenarios have one thing in common: someone took the time to show love & encouragement.  In our oh-so-busy lives, time is very limited, yet we all still long to be part of a community, a family, a greater purpose; all of which takes time.  Yet if we don’t MAKE the time, we never TAKE the time for others or for ourselves.  How much life will we let slip through our hands in the name of, “not having time”?  How many regrets will we hold for the time we can’t get back; the memories we missed with those we love?

Being on the receiving end of love & encouragement over the years, has been instrumental in getting me through some of the most difficult & painful times in my life. There were times I wasn’t ready to talk about it, but receiving a reminder that someone cared meant the world to me. There were times where advice & words of wisdom were needed & given, while there were other times that silence was golden & the prayers spoken in the distance were the glue that held me together.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up,
just as in fact you are doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11

Encouragement, regardless of the form, is necessary, in all of our lives.  Whether we’re having a good day or a bad day, knowing that our trusted circle of family & friends are surrounding us with love, encouragement & prayers, is vital to our emotional, spiritual & physical health.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

We need each other. Contrary to what the speed of the world around us may speak, we were made to encourage one another & walk this journey together.

So next time you have just a few minutes to spare, send a quick text or an email, leave a Voxer message, write a card, or send a little “thinking of you” gift.  The time you spend to show love & encouragement isn’t limited to the minutes on a clock. The love & encouragement you show someone today may be the very thing God uses to speak life, healing, courage or hope to someone in need.

Take the time…

I wrote a blog post very similar to this not that long ago. Every word you’ve written is so true. We all long for someone to reach out to us. It’s so great getting those surprise doses of love and encouragement. I’ve started making Mondays my “send a card” day. I mail a few cards to people who I know need prayer or an extra reminder that they are loved. Thanks for sharing today!

Great post! We are called to build each other up and spur one another along. It’s so important. A verse on this subject that I think about often is in Hebrews 3: “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”

Thank you for stopping by, Lyli! I love that verse as well! 🙂 Have a blessed day! ♥

“Take the Time”-absolutely! I’ve been convicted of this over the years, sometime I get so “busy” in my own life that I forget to really see other people and their problems. But God has reminded me time and time again how much someone else’s encouragement meant to me during difficult seasons and that I need to do the same for others. We just never know how much a smile or a simple “hello” will mean to someone.

As always, thank you for stopping by, Alecia! It’s always so wonderful to read your notes of encouragement. You are such a breath of fresh air to my day! 🙂 Have a blessed day yourself! ♥

Hi Satin:), I was so blessed reading this timely post. Do hope you get to read this. The Holy Spirit blessed and removed heaviness of soul through these words. Love the words “glue that holds us together” as others pray when we don’t know it. Excited to know God uses our prayers as His glue to bless and restore. May your life continue to be blessed, encouraged and enriched in every area. Blessings from Australia. Sharyn

Recently God has been asking me to encourage others by others means than just through writing. It’s stretching me, but it’s been good! Thank you for sharing!

    • Satin P on March 13, 2014 at 7:58 AM

Praying for you, Barbie! Sometimes He asks us to to think outside the box… and it’s scary & out of our comfort zone… but when we walk in obedience, He blesses ten fold! Praying for His blessings to be all yours today! Thank you for stopping by & for the faithful encouragement! ♥

Well I just love this because I was on the receiving end of your encouragement through the card you sent and I can say for certain God used you to speak life, healing, courage and hope to me. Thank you so much!! And thank you for the reminder that we need to be this to each other.
Love you!! Wishing you a wonderful week.
