Fear {The robber of dreams)

Do you realize that the word FEAR, when spelled backwards spells REAF?  Wiktionary defines REAF as: Spoil; booty; plunder, especially plunder from robbery. The act of carrying off, abducting or devouring. A thief; robber.

I don’t know about you, but when I see the word “robber” I immediately think of John 10:10 & how the devil is out to steal, kill & destroy our dreams!

Here we are, answering His call, walking in obedience & BAM! The devil hits us in the face with lies about our past or lies about our future, bringing fear into focus & causing us to doubt ourselves or even doubt God.

What do we do when fear is screaming, “You’re not worthy! You’re not qualified! You’re a mess! You can’t do this! God didn’t call you here! You missed the mark! Turn around; this is too hard”??  We hit our knees & cry out to the one who MOVES those mountains of fear!
Psalm 3:4, “I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill.”

When fear comes knocking, we always have a choice! We can either embrace fear & allow it to plunder our dreams, or we can tell the Robber of Dreams that he has no authority in our lives & he must flee.

The most important thing we can do when the Stealer of Dreams attacks is live James 4:7:

  • SUBMIT to God.
    • When we wholly  submit our hearts to God it allows Him to deliver us from our fears.
    • Psalm 34:4, “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
  • RESIST the devil
    • When we speak God’s Word over our lives, & then choose to embrace it, rather than believing the lies, we are resisting the devil & putting him in his rightful {non-authoritative} place!
    • Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.”

Yes. Amen. Fear is truly is a robber. He robs me of living fully and free in the joy of God. It is truly a battle to hear His voice over the many voices of fear. Beautiful post.

Oh Kelly, I’m praying that Jesus voice will become so crystal clear to you, that even when the enemy shouts in your face, you’ll have the discernment to know Jesus’ voice above the lies. Please know I’m here to pray for you or listen if you need an ear. You can privately message me on my FB page if you like (thank you for liking my FB page). Love to you ♥

I’ve been mulling over this post for several days now. My heart wants to go there, but my head does not. It’s not a  pretty place, it’s an awkward & painful place, yet at the same time it’s a beautiful place-if I choose to look at it that way. I still remember the day, as…
