8 Spiritual Blocks Potentially Hindering You from Walking in Joy & Freedom! #1: Blocks to Spiritual Healing

Starting today through the end of August, I am focusing on:
8 Spiritual Blocks Potentially Hindering You from Walking in Joy & Freedom!

Please keep an eye on your inbox for my emails - I'll be sending two per week, typically Tuesday and Thursday.

Today I am unpacking the first block, which is: Blocks to Spiritual Healing

When I think about Spiritual Healing – I think about the areas of our lives as Christ followers, where we struggle the most and desire to see FREEDOM and HEALING.

Having Blocks to Spiritual Healing might look like, but certainly are not limited to:

  • Struggling with an addiction of any kind, unable to walk in complete FREEDOM
  • Struggling with unforgiveness; knowing it’s God’s choice for us, yet unable to walk in OBEDIENCE
  • Struggling with doubt; knowing God yet doubting His goodness and faithfulness, so walking in RESTLESSNESS
  • Struggling with marriage; not wanting to divorce, but feeling stuck and unable to thrive in UNITY
  • Struggling with direction; not knowing where to go in a career, relationship, ministry etc.; lacking DISCERNMENT
  • Struggling with faith; knowing God, yet lacking the faith in Him to get you through your current season; lacking HOPE

Friend, may I whisper a gentle truth to you about all these examples plus any others you may be experiencing?

At the core of our Blocks to Spiritual Healing is one thing: Our lack of Surrender.

I’ve heard the phrase “God never gives us more than we can handle” so often over the years, yet I fundamentally disagree with this statement.

There absolutely are MANY things that God allows into our lives that are too big for us; we are not designed to carry anything in life alone. God gave us Himself when He sent His son to pay the ultimate price for our FREEDOM. HE carried it ALL on the cross and it is only in our complete SURRENDER that we find FREEDOM and HEALING.

We cannot simultaneously trust God while holding tightly to control in a lack of surrender.

The definition of surrender is to give over to the power, control, or possession of another especially by force. Or to give oneself over to something.

Friend, when we hold onto control – succumbing to fear, restlessness, disunity, disobedience, or addiction, we are not fully surrendered to the Father and therefore cannot receive the FREEDOM and HEALING He desires for us.

If you find yourself in a situation where you believe you have Blocks to Spiritual Healing and you want to fully surrender and see God work in your life to bring freedom and healing – I would be honored to come alongside you for a season as we watch what God does in this area of your life.

The Dreaded "C" word: Cancer

I’ve been mulling over this post for several days now. My heart wants to go there, but my head does not. It’s not a  pretty place, it’s an awkward & painful place, yet at the same time it’s a beautiful place-if I choose to look at it that way. I still remember the day, as…
