Happy Heavenly Birthday, Mom

Today would have been my mom's 82nd birthday. Instead, she is celebrating her 5th birthday in heaven, alongside my dad.

Some of you know my story, but some of you do not, so the short version is this:

I was raised in a Christian home by two parents who were flawed and messy (like me!), yet who loved God fiercely and raised me to do the same. My mom was my best friend, my cheerleader and my confidant. I lost my dad in 2016 to cancer, and then lost my mom to cancer in 2019; just three years apart. Both of these losses rocked my world to say the least.

God blessed me with an amazing husband to walk beside me through the losses and God Himself carried me through my deepest pain and has brought me to the other side.

So when I say "I get it" when it comes to loss, I truly do. I understand the pain deeply, and I also can attest to the goodness of God to heal me through the loss and bring me out on the other side where He has turned my pain to empowerment.

In every facet of my life, I aim to please the Lord. I aim to point others to Him and His mercy, love and goodness in spite of our flaws and need for Him.

Happy heavenly birthday, Mom! I pray my life is a living testimony of God's goodness in you own life as you poured Jesus into me from conception until your last breath. I love you, to the moon, beyond and back, forever and always, no matter what.
