Until We Meet Again, Mitch

There are moments in life when it feels like the ground has been swept out from beneath your feet, the wind taken out of your sail, and you’ve been gut punched... all at once.

Getting a phone call, Friday morning, from the wife of my husband Tyler’s lifelong best friend, Mitch Meyers, saying he had passed away in the late hours of the night, changed everything. June 11, 2020 Mitch met his Maker and left behind a beautiful, strong wife, two handsome teenage sons and a sweet six year old daughter, as well as parents, siblings, family and friends, all who loved him dearly.

Mitch was the person you could call anytime of the day; he would drop everything to help you, sit and listen or offer support when you needed it the most. He had the biggest and most compassionate heart, befriended everyone, and his laugh was truly contagious.

He loved fishing and hunting with his best friends and sons. He was often called “Snoozy” because of his innate ability to fall asleep absolutely anywhere at any given time! He lived life to the fullest and had a tendency to push the limit on absolutely everything, consequently breaking bones and having many near-death experiences, chalking up memories that brought many laughs over the years.

In my husband's words, “There’s not a memory I have that is pre-Mitch… he’s been part of my life for as far back as I can remember.” They met at the age of three, went through everything together. Mitch was the brother Tyler never had. Mitch was also like a brother to me and quite frankly, was more of a brother to me for the past twelve years than my own brothers have been my entire life. Mitch will be missed greatly, and we look forward to seeing him again in heaven.
